Casting management application for professionals working in the dubbing industry.
Concept
We looked for a creative concept that would fully reflect the specifics of the application and register with industry professionals. We finally decided that using a combination of visualized sound waves and the primary tool of the voice acting trade would best reflect the character of the branding. The designed materials reference voice-over work and voice acting, thus contributing to and reinforcing the brand story of the project.
Process
Our approach to the project had to be creative but functional, with appropriate attention given to the most minute details with impact on usability, from branding, through landing page and app design, all the way up to branding films and online advertising campaigns. The delivered concept was consistent with the creative concept developed in the course of our custom branding workshops.
STEP BY STEP
/ Step 1
Branding Workshops
We began with a branding workshop using our original Black Horse Method, which allowed us to compile detailed information about the needs of the developed brand.
/ Step 2
Branding
The branding strategy was developed from a detailed briefing combined with an in-depth audit of the situation at the company interested in developing the app, and provided a roadmap for drafting the brand’s new creative concept and logotype.
/ Step 3
UX Workshops
The Hatch Method, another custom approach from our portfolio, involves using workshops to collect all the necessary information about IT projects from which then a detailed UX strategy is developed. With this approach, we were able to quickly map out key objectives and identify relevant app features.
/ Step 4
Prototyping
The app development process kicked off with prototyping based on the UX strategy drafted earlier, and working out the application’s detailed structure. Each subview was then rendered into a clickable prototype.
/ Step 5
Graphic Design
Immediately after the prototypes and features were approved, we began designing the app’s main view and two subviews that demonstrate component usage in various configurations. After these were approved, we developed the final application layout alongside an entire bank of components needed by frontend developers for easy app deployment.
/ Step 6
Collaboration with a Software House
A long-term partnership with a software house enables us to continue working on and supporting the project also after deployment. We’re well aware that even with the most meticulous planning, every feature may be subject to change due to modifications to the backend. Hence, it’s only natural that we remain available to provide continued maintenance.
Specifications
The casting management app met with such enthusiasm from the user base that the client quickly retasked us to develop a version that would offer the ability to manage casting directly to downstream users. The app resolved much of the problems plaguing SDI Media, brought new avenues for growth and access to voice talent. Serving as an intermediary, the company could also offer its artist roster new opportunities for growth and access to a community of fellow professionals, and provide its customers with access to new pools of talent.
